A Cozy Slice of Minnesota

While we were back in the Midwest for a family matter, we pulled over to try out the Timberlodge in Owatonna, MN. It was cozy right from the entrance! When you walked in the front entrance, you are welcome with a cozy sitting area with a fireplace and couches to hang out on. It was just a great ambience. The food was also yummy! It was a perfect place for a driving break!

The waiting area at the restaurant

For my restaurant reviews, I like to talk about the food, overall service and atmosphere. We started off with Bruschetta. It was a little different than we were used to since it was more of a bread and not so much a toast, but I think we were actually fine with that. It had marinated tenderloin tips, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, and a bleu cheese dressing with basil. I will say I am not usually a bleu cheese fan, but I never would have guessed that was the dressing. My husband then ordered the Walleye Dinner, which was on special, and I had a Paul’s Pepper Jack Burger. Everything must have been good, because we cleared our plates! I had the Homemade Kettle Chips as my side, and my husband had the Sauteed Green Beans and Garlic Mashed Potatoes as his side. It was all so good! We finished the night off with some Apple Crisp. It is my husband’s favorite dessert so when he said he really enjoyed it, means it was good! He can be a pretty hard critic with that sometimes. I am going to apologize for the photo we have of the apple crisp. We were really excited and almost forgot to take a photo! Overall, we really enjoyed the food!

My husband and my meals. Going clockwise: Bruschetta; Paul's Pepper Jack burger; what was left of the Apple Crisp; the Walleye Dinner (what was left when I remembered to take a photo).

The overall service and atmosphere was really good. Katie E was very attentive and was very helpful with our questions. Like I said above, the overall feel was very cozy and felt really good. We really enjoyed our time at the Timberlodge and may try to make it again when we are back in the area.
