Who tells your story???

A big thing that we enjoy to do is going to musicals, plays and symphonies! We were lucky enough to get tickets to Hamilton within the first year we were down here in Des Moines! The best part, we got to see it on Independence Day! What a better way to celebrate our country’s independence than to go see a musical about one of our founding fathers!

For those who do not know, Hamilton is about the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of our founding fathers. Before looking into this musical, the only thing I knew about Hamilton, was he is on the $10 bill. He was not one of our presidents, which many people seem to forget :).

Banner from the musical

Alexander Hamilton came to the United States before the Revolutionary War. He wanted a chance to make a difference and to leave a legacy. He wanted freedom. After meeting other guys who believed in the same thing, they decided to help start a revolution. From there, the musical talks about his story of going from the Revolutionary War to being the Secretary of Treasury under George Washington. It also goes on to tell about after he leaves office up until his death. For a longer overview, you can go to the following Wikipedia URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamilton_(musical).

I would definitely recommend going if you get a chance. The songs are catchy. You will catch yourself singing them long after you are home again. The costumes and sets were great and really made you feel like they were back in the late 18th century and early 19th century. We would really like to go again and be able to enjoy it even more! My husband and I cannot recommend this musical enough.

It will definitely leave you thinking about how you want to be remembered and what type of legacy you want to leave.

Hope this has been helpful! If you have any questions or want to know more, let me know!!

I am also adding a link if anyone wants or is interested in getting tickets. Like I said before, we would highly recommend it to anyone!! https://hamiltonmusical.com/new-york/
